I am an optician and I talk with many people about their vision problems. My concern is the blinding glare caused by headlights on cars and trucks that people experience when driving their cars at night. The radiation from the new LED lights is intense and blue. Many people have told me that they don’t drive at night because of the glare. I myself have a hard time with nighttime driving for the same reason. In the past year I have found that a yellow clip-on for my eyeglasses is indispensable at night, to moderate the blue color and glare of LED headlights. This is unfortunate because the yellow filter makes it harder to see hazards emerging from the side of the road. Additionally, if I have a headache, the bluish lights are even more irritating.
