My father was a member of the engineering team that pioneered wireless phone technology at Bell Labs in Naperville, IL back in the 80s and 90s! A LOT has changed in the technology since then; the bandwidth of cell towers and phones has expanded exponentially, as has the sheer volume of radiation and EMF exposure from usage. It is well past time to conduct new studies on the potential health and environmental impacts of this technology which, at this point, has almost nothing in common with the technology that was studied and approved thirty years ago. \n\nHHS needs to take an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health. The experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should also be taken into account.\n\nI urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health.\n\nThank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.","attachments":[],"attachment_inventory":true,"withheld":false,"source":"https://www.regulations.gov/comment/HHS-OASH-2026-0397-0068","tags":["child-development","exposure-places","research-evidence"],"source_hash":"cbb5b53a8a5b34fdc5e922106535f670ad67a74b12faa6cb2f10f2f285f4ccd7","slug":"child-development-comment-0068","classification":{"id":"HHS-OASH-2026-0397-0068","body_sha256":"0b048a1a090182ada4f06e7a870bbadaff4093838fa56613a1fc75d7df8f1d66","status":"ai_reviewed","primary_topic":"research","topics":[{"id":"research","evidence":"This comment is in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure.\n\nI am responding from the perspective of a concerned me"},{"id":"children","evidence":" the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health.\n\nThank you for providing indivi"}],"summary":"The commenter argues that changes in wireless technology warrant new studies and health-agency assessment with attention to vulnerable populations.","reviewed_at":"2026-09-22T01:54:07Z","review_method":"AI source-text review; explicit topic passages; 2026-09-22","review_source_sha256":"26d82e8f7544372eeae5c9b96b99ccacde0f5c172c9020bd5168c0af75edf6c4","source_url":"https://rfsafe.net/hhs-comments/data/catalog.json","scope":"Original comment body; attachments excluded"},"forum_topics":["research","children"],"primary_topic":"research","forum_title":"The commenter argues that changes in wireless technology warrant new studies and health-agency assessment…"}
